Dear Family and Friends,

Yes, it’s me again, asking for your support this year in my pledge to raise money for the American Cancer Society.  I was looking at last year’s letter while doing this and I was amazed at the goal amount for my team.  Our goal last year was $5,000.  We came in at NUMBER 1 with over $10,000 raised.  Our relay for Berlin, NH raised over $74,000!  I know this doesn’t sound like a lot to those of you in Massachusetts (those relay towns raise close to $500,000), but the previous year we raised $34,000. 

We were one of twelve relay teams honored in New England for being an “All Star Relay”.  There were 6 different criteria to meet and we did them all!

My Co-Chair, Claudia and I, were invited to be part of a panel to speak to all the Relay teams in NH on fundraising techniques and we were honored in Concord, NH for highest percentage increase over last year.

As you can see, I have been very busy with Relay for Life.  It has become a year round commitment for me and I love it!  Every time I talk with someone who has battled the disease, or is going through an experience with cancer, it reaffirms my belief that I can make a difference.

I know that many of us have been affected by the recession and are watching our spending.  I am fearful of the future as well, especially with Joshua going to college in the fall.  But giving what I can to the American Cancer Society is making a better future for the next generation.  If you feel this is a worthwhile cause, and can afford a few dollars, it is so needed this year.  Charitable donations are one of the first expenditures people cut from their budget when money is tight.
