North Country Dental Gets a Run for the Money

Gorham – North Country Dental raised $2,130 for the American Cancer Society and got a run for their money by sponsoring the 2006, twenty-four hour “Relay For Life”. The event was held June 23rd through 24th at the New Hampshire Technical College (NHTC) in Berlin, NH. Relay For Life is a fun-filled, overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for the research and programs of the American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on
the track at all times.

To meet their fundraising goal of $2000, North Country Dental raffled tickets for $5.00 each. Three prizes were awarded: a Dine Around the Town gift basket valued at $300.00, filled with gift certificates and products donated by Gorham area restaurants; an Irving gas card valued at $150.00 donated by Irving Mainways and NCD; and a handmade quilt by Dr. Schoenbeck’s wife, Joy.

The “All Team Banner Lap” kicked off the event. Charnee Buckley, Donald Leveille, Donna Leveille, Leslie McCosh, Denise Roberge, Kristine Roy, Nick Roy, Paul Schoenbeck, Claudia Sudol, Duane Sudol, Sreemali Vasantha, Allison White and Charlie White, Karen Ellis comprised North Country Dental’s Relay For Life Team. All told, the team members walked or ran the NHTC track from 6:00 pm Friday, June 23 to 9:00 am Saturday June 24.

In addition to the relay, several contests were held. Team campsites were judged for creativity, authenticity and team spirit. North Country Dental’s team theme was the Dukes of Hazzard”, replete with a replica of the famous orange 1969 Dodge Charger, The General Lee'. Another momentous award was given to the affable Dr. Paul Schoenbeck for his first place win in the “Miss Relay Contest”, an evening gown competition for each team’s favorite guy. Dr. Schoenbeck was crowned by the reigning Miss New Hampshire.
